New baby blankets have arrived!!! Finally! I take all my pictures using natural light SO all this gloomy weather we're having is really cramping my ability to take photos of my items. The sunny day finally arrived though and the pictures were taken. Yay! The blankets have been listed in my Etsy shop over the past few days ... stop in and take a look.

With this set of blankets I went with more of a medium sized. If you see something you like but would like it larger or smaller you can email me at ... I love custom orders.

New burp cloths will be coming soon if the sun would make an appearance again(no sun in 3 days). Oh nice, as I am typing this it started snowing ... UGH! See just when you think winter possibly could be over mother nature pulls a fast one on you. I live in Minnesota so I really should no better, after all it is only March. :)

Welcome to Sprout. We are two sisters that specialize in modern baby & toddler blankets, change pads and burp cloths. We give a fresh, unique alternative to parents who want to express their own individual style.

We pride ourselves in offering high quality, stylish items for both baby and toddler. Each item is handcrafted using only the highest quality materials. Bold, colorful prints are paired with the finest quality minky or chenille creating items that are soothing, stylish and affordable.

The Ultra Plush Blankets and Security Blankets are incredibly soft and often become the favorite for your little guy or gal. They come in small and large and work great for the crib, car seat, lap, nap time and floor for play time.

The Chenille Burp Cloths are our number one seller. They combine style, comfort and functionality. As a major staple in early infancy you can't go wrong with having multiples on hand.

While we currently are working separately under 2 successful shops, we have united under the name Sprout and plan to merge our shops in the near future. For now you can find us at:

We currently are accepting custom orders. You can contact us through our shops our email us at

Thank you to all of you who have supported both of our shops. We are very appreciative and excited for the road ahead.

And help save handmade children's items! This includes toys, clothing, blankets, burp cloths ... anything intended for children under the age of 12. A new law was passed this year and goes into affect February 2009 - their intentions were good BUT the law is so vague that all these small business owners will go out of business. And no longer will you be able to purchase all of the wonderful handmade items you have for your little ones(without it being against the law).

This information was copied from - A Proposal From the In 2007, large toy manufacturers who outsource their production to China and other developing countries violated the public's trust. They were selling toys with dangerously high lead content, toys with unsafe small parts, toys with improperly secured and easily swallowed small magnets, and toys made from chemicals that made kids sick. Almost every problem toy in 2007 was made in China.

The United States Congress rightly recognized that the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) lacked the authority and staffing to prevent dangerous toys from being imported into the US. So, they passed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) in August, 2008. Among other things, the CPSIA bans lead and phthalates in toys, mandates third-party testing and certification for all toys and requires toy makers to permanently label each toy with a date and batch number.

All of these changes will be fairly easy for large, multinational toy manufacturers to comply with. Large manufacturers who make thousands of units of each toy have very little incremental cost to pay for testing and update their molds to include batch labels. For small American, Canadian, and European toymakers, however, the costs of mandatory testing, to the tune of up to $4,000 per toy, will likely drive them out of business. And the handful of larger toy makers who still employ workers in the United States face increased costs to comply with the CPSIA, even though American-made toys had nothing to do with the toy safety problems of 2007.

The CPSIA simply forgot to exclude the class of toys that have earned and kept the public's trust. The result, unless the law is modified, is that handmade toys will no longer be legal in the US.

Thriving small businesses are crucial to the financial health of our nation. Let's amend the CPSIA so that all businesses large and small are able to comply and survive!

Please keep in mind that this does not affect only toy makers. As the law is written at this time I could not continue to sell my blankets and burp cloths without the proper testing - which as you read above is EXTREMELY expensive. Please click on the link to the left and vote.

Thank you,

I was recently asked if I would be willing to donate an item from my Etsy shop to an online silent auction and after visiting the blog and reading about what this woman and her family have been through I knew that I could not say no - I felt so completely honored to have been asked to participate.

They have so many great items to bid on and are always listing something new. Please check it out at or click the button on the left. Thanks!

New burp cloths ...

FINALLY! So I'm out of my slump and made a ton of new burp cloths ... a ton being close to 30! I know, that is such a ridiculous amount, right!? But I just couldn't stop buying all of this beautiful fabric and I will admit I went a little overboard but oh well. I have already begun adding them to my Etsy shop and will continue to do so for the next few days or so. Come take a look ...
